The Angus Feedlot & Carcase Trial, to be hosted at Teys Condamine, is a new grainfed performance competition with a structured, data-driven framework designed to give producers objective feedback on how their cattle perform in a commercial feedlot environment.
Run over 140 days on feed, the trial enables direct comparison of Angus steers fed under the same conditions, providing clear insight into growth rates, feedlot performance, carcase traits and eating quality. By assessing cattle against processor specifications and market outcomes, the program helps bridge the gap between on-farm breeding decisions and downstream value.
Participants receive regular performance updates during the feeding period, followed by detailed carcase and MSA feedback post-processing, allowing producers to benchmark genetics and management against industry standards. All cattle are also genomically tested, supporting more informed breeding decisions and long-term genetic improvement.
The competition structure reflects the diversity of Angus production systems, with classes for 50%, 75% and 100% Angus, and recognition across feedlot performance, carcase outcomes and eating quality. Results will be announced at BeefEx 2026, providing industry visibility and independent validation of performance.
Live data will be available from Optiweigh Units with the stock throughout the competition.
