We’re heading to Tamworth from 28–30 July for the 2026 Pastures & Grazing NSW Conference at Wests’ Diggers Club. This year’s theme, “The Science of Pastures and Grazing,” is all about digging into the practical side of productivity. It’s a great chance to swap notes with other producers and hear from people doing the work on the ground.
Here’s the draft program (subject to change):
Day 1: Tuesday, 28 July
- Registrations and a welcome reception at 5:30 pm at Smokey’s Bar & Grill.
Day 2: Wednesday, 29 July
- Opening with Keynote Karen Penfold from Four Daughters Beef.
- Financial Management with Melissa Mooney (Regional Australia Bank) on ROI, bank-readiness for loans, and green loans.
- Livestock Production Systems focussed on high-performance animals with Ed Clayton (NSW DPIRD), a producer perspective on technology from Don and Jason Mack, and an exploration of AI in grazing systems by Tristan Steventon (Stevtech).
- Followed by tours focusing on managing acid soils, cultivating profits and beef grazing foundations.
- Conference Dinner: 6:00 pm at the Wests Diggers Auditorium.
Day 3: Thursday, 30 July
- Malinda Guest (Boundless Psychology) on succession planning, specifically communication and conflict resolution strategies.
- Pasture Research with Dr. Suzanne Boschma (NSW DPIRD) focussed on tropical pastures, followed by sessions on diversifying feedbases and managing pasture dieback.
