“A lamb that turns off three weeks late has eaten three weeks of feed you didn’t plan or budget for. The trouble is, most lambs are only weighed at irregular intervals. So a mob that’s falling behind usually stays invisible until it’s too late.”
That’s part of what the team at For Flocks Sake have been working towards on behalf of a MLA PDS and will be showcased at the Field Day at Boree on Sept 29. It’s an interactive on-farm session rather than a lecture, and the program follows a lamb from weaning through to market. Speakers include:
- Tim Gole, For Flocks Sake.
- Angus Gilbert, Optiweigh.
- Will Macsmith, Crown Agriculture.
- Kieran Smith, For Flocks Sake.
- Plus Producer experiences.Â
Why this one is worth the drive:Â The day is part of the Meat & Livestock Australia Producer Demonstration Site “Demonstration of Optiweigh use in Lamb Finishing Systems”. If you finish lambs in Central West NSW, and you’ve been weighing at the yards and guessing in between, this is the crowd to sit with.
