Optiweigh is one of Australia’s leading AgTech companies, designing and manufacturing automatic livestock weighing technology that is used by livestock producers across Australia, New Zealand, North America, the United Kingdom and South America.  Based in Armidale, our team combines engineering, software, electronics, manufacturing, sales, marketing and customer support to develop innovative products that make a genuine difference to livestock producers around the world.

About the Student Professional Program

The Student Professional Program is paid professional work designed for people who want more than a typical casual job. It offers meaningful, flexible work while you study, with the opportunity to become a valued member of a professional team.  Rather than being confined to a single repetitive role, participants gain broad exposure to different parts of the business and develop practical experience that most graduates do not gain until years into their careers.

Our commitment to you

We understand that your studies come first. We will work around university timetables, exams and major assessment periods. In return, we ask participants to commit to regular weekly work (typically around 15–20 hours per week during semester and to be able to work during university holiday periods), rather than occasional casual shifts.

Future opportunities

The purpose of the program is to provide exceptional professional experience while you study. Many participants will go on to careers across a wide range of industries. From time to time, permanent opportunities become available at Optiweigh and participants are welcome to explore those opportunities if they align with their own career goals—but there is no expectation or obligation on either side.
