“The sheep industry isn’t standing still. Markets are shifting. Input costs are volatile. Consumer expectations are rising. For sheep meat producers, the question isn’t whether things are changing, it’s how to respond in a way that protects margin and builds resilience.”
That’s the focus of this year’s WALRC Livestock Matters Forum.
- The day kicks off with fresh market outlook data from MLA’s Market Information Manager, Stephen Bignell
- Lachlan Campbell (CEO of ProAgni and operator of a 17,000-acre self-replacing Merino enterprise with two sheep feedlots) will tackle a question many producers are asking: Why feedlot?
- At 11:05am, Optiweigh’s Alex Holt will walk through how remote walk-over weighing systems are being used in commercial sheep enterprises.
- Later in the day, attendees will walk through confinement feeding systems on Moojepin Merinos.
- A DPIRD-supported project at Tolga Farm will showcase how livestock management and feeding strategies can reduce methane output while maintaining performance.
